After the scenes of devastation we had experienced the previous week, (and the trail was really easy!) it was decided to have another run over some "challenging" trails. So sunday morning we met at the Fawnskin fire station........and then again at the discovery center!

Eventually we headed out to John Bull trail.
Of course I had to get stuck very early on. But in my defense, Carter carbs and sharp inclines don't mix ( ok, ok, weak lame defense, but i'm sticking to it)! I stopped while climbing up the right side of a small rock-pile to let the jeep in front get clear. My engine died and would not re-start. I was going to just winch up the rest of the way, but it was decided to let the guy behind me come in front and strap me up. OOPs, the left side of the rocks was the harder line, and he was open at both ends (no lockers, for the tractionally challenged). He went and high-centered himself and became the focus of everyones attention. I waited for a while, but decided to get myself unstuck. Easy really, there was a huge rock 30 feet in front of me, so i just threw my strap around it and hooked up the cable. 2 minutes later I was on level ground and the engine was back again. The other jeep was helped through and everyone else just walked right up.
No more real challenges after that. At the other end of John Bull, we stopped for lunch. During lunch, we were joined by a couple in their YJ. Mike and Pat stayed with us for the rest of the day. And got to experience the navigational skills *ahem* of our trail leader first hand (our new club logo is going to be "don't follow me, I'm lost too!")
After lunch we went through the Holcombe Creek trail. Again, not too difficult, but the creek itself is always an audience favorite.

Everyone made it through ok, and we finished up at the rockpile at the end of Holcombe Creek.
My youngest son, Philip had the greatest time, climbing up every rockpile in sight, and seeing beaver dams all along Holcombe Creek.

And isn't that one of the reasons we go "off-road" To show our kids something they can't really experience in a zoo, or a book.
