Return to Run Report List We met at Fawnskin Fire station Saturday morning. In attendance were Dana Famiglietti, Jack Coy, Adelaide, George O and his friend Roy, Steve Bass, Warren, Billy, and myself. We were led by Ranger Greg Hoffman who rode with Steve. We started out by going up 3N-17A to the Turquoise Mine. We brushed the trail and filled in some holes on the way back out. We stopped at Windy Point for lunch and to enjoy the great weather and views. Then on across White Mountain to the bottom of 1/2 Mile Hill. There we turned left on 3N11 and went down to Wright's Mine. We took a short break there and then back up to 3N11A where we made a hard left turn and followed it around to the top of 1/2 Mile Hill. From there we went on to Mud Hill and Frustration Hill. On the hard hills Steve and I took turns leading up or around the hard sections so we each got to do some and others had a choice as to which way to go. On frustration Dana put on quite a show with here open diffs spraying dirt and rocks all the way down the hill as she tried to go up. She made it and I am sure the trail is easier now that she cleaned all the rocks out that were buried in the trail. :-) We got off the trail about 4:30 and headed back to Fawnskin to air up and head home. It was a great day and everyone had a good time. We have to schedule another run to do more work. The section leading up to Windy Point has no water bars on it and we need to build some. Greg will try to get a piece of equipment to help with the job. For the most part the trail looked pretty good with no trash and little brush and no downed trees. We also need to put in a sign where 3N11A ends at 3N17 at the top of 1/2 Mile Hill. Because there is no sign people aren't using it and the trail is growing over, even in the tire tracks. I hope we can get a better turn out on the next work run as this is the clubs trail and we need to maintain it. Besides, the more who show up the less work for each of us to do. Frank Hayes KE6RDG |
