Return to Run Report List

Franks report.

Although it was in the 40's last night today it was in the hi 70's with light breezes making for a great day to be on the trail. Everybody met at the Fawnskin firestation and was ready to leave by 9 am. We had a fun group making it a typical 4Play run. There were to honorary life members, (Tim riding with me), A guy and his wife, (Burt
and Dottie), in a full size Wagoneer that we picked up at the firestation, and a non club member Steve leading us. We did Holcomb Creek and when we got to the other end we parked in the shade for lunch by the creek. Since I sheared off all 6 studs holding my right front hub at the middle rock garden playing around I decided to call it a day. It was fun having the full size with us since he has only been wheeling 6 months and is open open but he listened to direction and made it through just fine.

Tims report

What can i say? It was amazing to be back and running Big Bear again. Although i had to drive up from Ventura to be there (400 mile round trip) it was so worth it to see Frank and Steve again and run trails.

We were joined by Steve's neighbor, Steve, who is usually found playing in the dunes. Unfortunately he is getting out of the sport as its getting to be a PITA to go play anymore.

Also joined by Burt and Dottie in his well turned out '70 Waggie. A relatively new 'froader, but if he continues to drive as he did today, he'll be a very good one (just ditch the rack!) With a bit of spotting from us (and later from his Wife, which makes her a keeper!) he impressed us with how he navigated some tricky lines in a large vehicle.

Holcombe creek's rock gardens were as entertaining as ever and surprisingly we basically had the trail to ourselves even though there was a lot of traffic around that day.

We called a it an early day as Frank had breakage, but i enjoyed every minute. Thanks for the day out, and thank you Frank for blowing off your own plans to hang with the limey. It meant a lot.
