About OC4Play
Welcome to our off-roading family! To share a bit of history, Orange County 4-Play (OC4-Play) is one of the oldest and longest-running off-road enthusiast clubs in Southern California. Established in 1986 by a group of like-minded individuals, Orange County 4-Play is a family-oriented club dedicated to exploring the back roads, trails, and off-the-beaten paths of California and beyond. We have broadened our original charter from strictly off-road events to also include expedition camping, geo-cache adventures, and discovering open-use areas and parks. We pride ourselves on fostering a friendly environment where we support one another both in and outside of club functions.
As a proud member of CAL4WHEEL (California 4WD Association | https://cal4wheel.com), we actively work to keep our trails accessible against overzealous conservationism and governmental encroachment. By joining our OC4Play 4WD off-road club, part of your annual dues contributes to CAL4WHEEL, ensuring you also become a full member of that organization. Additionally, we participate in the San Bernardino Forest Service Adopt-A-Trail program (http://sbnf-adopt-a-trail.com) and proudly sponsor our own trail, known as White Mountain. At least twice a year, we head out to locations like 3N11 (Wright Mine), 3N11A (Wright Mine Saddle), and 3N17A (White Mountain) to remove fallen trees, debris, and trash, promoting a responsible

As it may take more than 2 runs to decide to commit to this community, please limit uncommitted runs to 4 total. If you can't decide after 4 runs, then OC4Play is likely not the right fit for you. As we tend to favor moderate to more technical runs in this club, less experienced prospects should first take an off-road training course to learn not only about driving techniques, but also what gear you need to bring.

03/14/26...Anza Borrego State Park (Southern Area)
Perfect opportunity to camp and enjoy the desert for the weekend. Some club members will be staying at Stagecoach Trails RV Park ( www.stagecoachtrails.com) from 3/13-16. Stagecoach RV Park offers RV and tent camping, and cabin rentals. Located about 20 miles from the town of Julian. More details during our 3/11 meeting.
RUN REQUIREMENTS & RECOMENDATIONS
SAFETY (Requirements List from Cal4Wheel)
- Roll bar or factory installed hard top.
- Emergency brake, parking brake, line-lock or other redundant braking system.
- Tow strap or rope (recommend rated at 2x vehicle weight).
- First aid kit.
- Jack capable of lifting the vehicle & tools to change tire.
- Spare tire within 3 inches diameter of other tires, or, for tires 37" or larger, run-flats or tools to repair/reinflate tire.
- Fire extinguisher with gauge indicating good/full, appropriately stored.
- Seat belts for all vehicle occupants.
- Antennas must be rigid or restrained in a manner to prevent injuries.
- Adequate attachment points front and rear (i.e., tow hooks, receiver, etc.). Tow balls are not an acceptable attachment point
- Secured battery (bungie cords are not secure).
VEHICLE
- 4WD required (lockers recommended).
- Sway bar disconnect method recommended for enhanced suspension articulation (and a smoother ride).
- Off-road competent tires (Hybrid Off-Road, Rugged Terrain R/T, or Mud Terrain M/T recommended). Consult with club management in advance of planned runs if using All-Terrain A/T tires.
- Shackle attachment points (front and rear) in case your vehicle needs to be winched or towed out of trouble.
TRAILS
- Be aware that this club often runs on truck/Jeep trails, which can be challenging and have overgrown branches and narrow trails...so "pin stripe" scratches will occur, sometimes many per run.
- Also be aware some rock and suspension challenges are to be expected, so some underbody contacts are to be expected. Real rock sliders are recommended (some step steps with low steps may cause issues).
- Lesser capable off-road vehicles should confirm with club management before each run.
GEAR
- A winch is a great tool to recommend for self-recovery situations. Some club members have winches, but not all. Ideally at least one club member with a winch will be on every run.
- A GMRS radio is recommended, some members have extras, but not always available.
- Gloves, cold weather gear, food and water in case any need to spend the night out on the trail due to unforeseen difficulties (highly unlikely, but...).
- High quality/capacity air compressor and tire pressure gauge as it is normally recommended to air down tires for better traction on most runs, then air up one the run has concluded.
MISC.
- Club rules dictate at least 4 vehicles required for each planned club sponsored trail run.
